Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
How To Make southern buttermilk biscuits

Step 1In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

Step 2Cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 3Stir in buttermilk.

Step 4Knead dough gently.

Step 5Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness.

Step 6Cut with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter.

Step 7Place biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet.

Step 8Bake at 450 degrees F for 10 - 15 minutes or until golden brown.
