Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 cup butter-flavored shortening
- 2/3 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 cup softened butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 5 or 6 teaspoons ground cinnamon
How To Make golden brown sugar biscuits

Step 1Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Step 2Grease baking sheet.

Step 3In a large bowl, combine flour, 1/4 c brown sugar, baking powder, salt and cream of tartar.

Step 4Cut the shortening into the dry ingredients until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 5Mix in milk and vanilla.

Step 6Knead briefly on a floured surface.

Step 7Gently roll dough into a large rectangle, about 1/2 inch thick.

Step 8Spread softened butter onto surface of dough.

Step 9Mix together 1/4 c. brown sugar and cinnamon.

Step 10Roll up tightly, and slice into 12 equal slices.

Step 11Place slices onto prepared baking sheet.

Step 12Bake in preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
