Ingredients

flour
1/2 c
cornmeal
2 1/2 tsp
baking powder
1/2 tsp
salt
1/2 tsp
ground mustard (optional)
1/2 c
shortening or butter
1/2 c
shredded cheddar cheese
1 c
milk

How to Make Cornmeal Drop Biscuits

Step-by-Step

  • 1In a bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt and mustard; cut in shortening until crumbly.
  • 2Stir in cheese and milk until just moistened.
  • 3Drop by 1/4 cupfuls 2 inches apart onto a greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 26-28 minutes or until golden brown.
  • 4Serve warm.
