  • 1 c

  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
  • 12 Tbsp
    unsalted butter, cut into 1/2 inch pieces and chilled

How to Make Cornmeal Biscuits


  1. Set oven to 450 degrees. whisk cornmeal, buttermilk and honey together in large bowl, let sit for 10 minutes.
  2. Pulse flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in food processor until combined, Scatter butter evenly over top and continue to pulse until mixture resembles coarse meal, . Add flour mixture to buttermilk mixture and stir until dough forms.
  3. Turn dough out onto lightly floured counter and knead until smooth, about 8 times. Pat dough into a 9 inch circle, about 3/4 inch thick. cut with 21/2 inch biscuit cutter.
  4. Bake until biscuit begins to rise, about 5 minutes, then reduce oven temperature to 400 degrees and bake until golden brown, 10 to 12 minutes longer. Let biscuits cool for about 5 minutes on pan, then transfer to cooling rack, Serve warm.
