How To Make cinnamon apple scones fit for a king
-
Step 1In a large bowl whisk together the flour, sugar, salt , baking powder and apple pie spice. Work in the cold butter until it is crumbly chunks. Stir in the apple pieces and cinnamon baking chips.
-
Step 2In another bowl combine the eggs, vanilla, cinnamon syrup, and applesauce, mixing well. Now add to the flour mixture ,just until all the dough is moistened and holds together. If necessary add a tablespoon or 2 of cream. I have never had to use it..My sister always does.
-
Step 3Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper , then sprinkle with a small amount of flour. (Do not grease the pan or paper).
-
Step 4Divide the dough in half and pat into a small round circle about one inch thick. Brush the top of each circle with melted butter and combine the cinnamon and sugar and sprinkle on the buttered tops. Using a sharp knife dipped in cold water, slice each circle into 6 wedges.Pull wedges out a little from the center and slightly separate them from each other.(about 1/2 inch at widest part)
-
Step 5Now for the trick of theses scones.. and the best texture and high rising, place the pan of scones in the freezer for 30 minutes -uncovered. While they are in the freezer- Heat oven to 425^.
-
Step 6Bake the scones for 20-22 minutes, or until golden brown. When you pull one away from the others, it should look baked all the way through and the edges shouldn't look wet or unbaked.
-
Step 7Remove them from the oven and cool for 2 minutes on the pan.Serve warm. When completely cool, place in plastic bags and store at room temperature up to 7 days.
