Had these biscuits for the first time tonight. My wife is the fussy one - and she liked them. She said they were light and fluffy. The nutrition is based on 14 biscuits. The recipe calls for 10.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups carbquik
  • 4 tablespoons icbinb light (stick)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese - used mozzarella-use what you want
  • 1 pinch garlic powder
  • 1 pinch salt - used morton lite salt
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream - used reduced fat half & half
  • 1/4 cup water

How To Make carbquik cheddar cheese biscuits-diabetic friendly

  • Step 1
    Cut the cold butter into the carbquik with either a pastry cutter or two knives, until the mixture resemble coarse meal. Add the shredded cheese, a pinch of salt, garlic powder and blend well.
  • Step 2
    Mix the heavy cream with water to equal 1/2 cup of liquid, pour into dry mix. Mix until dough forms and comes together, but do not overwork the dough. If to dry add a little more cream, but just a little at a time.
  • Step 3
    Drop the dough onto a lightly greased Cookie sheet approximately 1 ounce size portions.
  • Step 4
    Bake in hot oven at 450 degrees for 8-10 minutes until biscuits are golden brown. Biscuits are tender when hot, let cool slightly before serving.
