pizza pinwheels

Recipe by

Other than having to fool with the crescent roll dough, which isn't really all that hard, this is really quick and easy to put together. Refrigerated pizza dough can be used but I'd roll it out thinner or you'll wind up with really puffy Pinwheels. These are great for make ahead party appetizers - just keep them in the fridge and pop a tray into the oven every now and then throughout the party to keep your guests happy. Make each tray with a different flavor and dipping sauce to spice things up. Kids love these too! Images Borrowed from Internet

Spread a medium layer of pizza sauce over the top of each crescent dough almost to the edges. Layer each rectangle with 6 slices of pepperoni, or 18 mini pepperoni.

Spread 1/4 cup cheese evenly over the top almost to the edges, (it will spread out).
  • 4
Roll tightly lengthwise and slice each into 4 or 5 pieces.

Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 12 minutes. Put the pizza sauce in a microwave safe bowl and heat through just until hot. Stir well and sprinkle shredded Parmesan on the top. Serve the Pinwheels with the pizza sauce for dipping.

*OPTIONS: Instead of Pepperoni, use crumbled browned sausage, ground beef, canadian bacon, cooked bacon, shredded chicken. For Vegetarian, put sauteed onions or bell peppers, banana peppers, sliced olives, mushrooms, thinly sliced banana peppers, zucchini, etc. If using chicken, use an alfredo sauce instead of pizza sauce and use ricotta or a parmesan & mozzarella cheese blend for the cheese topping. Try a basil pesto on the side for dipping. Try shredded bbq chicken or bbq beef with grilled or sauteed onions and cheese but don't use any sauce on the dough. Experiment with different cheese like cheddar, pepper jack, colby jack, or swiss, and a variety of salsas, marinara, cheese sauces, creamy salad dressings, bbq sauces, or even flavored olive oil dipping sauces.
