heirloom tomato tart
(1 RATING)
This is a nice alternative to pizza and should be served as an appetizer because the crust is so much richer than pizza crust. An unexpected treat for guests.

How To Make heirloom tomato tart
-
Step 1Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place tomatoes on paper towels and sprinkle with 1/2 tsp salt. Pat dry after 30 minutes. In the meantime, roll out one puff pastry and place in an ungreased rectangular cookie sheet. Cut 1/2 inch strips from the remaining pastry sheet and make a lip around the rolled out pastry. Bake for 15 minutes until browned. Top pastry with mozzarella, place sliced tomatoes in a single layer and drop halved tomatoes evenly over top. Sprinkle with fresh herbs, garlic and pepper. Drizzle with olive oil and bake for 15 minutes until cheese melts.
