Family favorite! I am sure the recipe could be halved. This recipe makes enough batter to do A LOT of pickles. We also use the batter on mushroom and other veggies.

Ingredients

  • - whole dill pickles or spears
  • 1 cup corm meal mix
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup franks hot sauce or hot sauce of choice
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • - salt (to taste)
  • - fresh ground pepper (to taste)
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • - oil of choice (for frying)

How To Make fried pickles

  • Step 1
Slice whole pickles into thick slices. It's all a matter of opinion and taste. My family prefers slices. But you can use hamburger chips, or spears also.
  • Step 2
    Heat oil
  • Step 3
In a bowl mix all remaining ingredients to make batter. Batter should be the consistency of pancake batter. add more water to thin more flour to thicken
  • Step 4
dip spears into batter and fry until golden brown. Place on a paper towel to cool slightly. If the oil is to hot batter will not adhere if its to cool pickles will be greasy. Between Medium and High works best on my stove.
  • Step 5
    Serve warm
