DON'T LET THE BROCCOLI DETER YOU FROM TRYING THIS! Substitute cauliflower or leave them both out...This was always made by a caterer in Texas and somehow I was able to obtain the recipe! :) the 6 oz roll of cheese is no longer available but Kraft has giving me the recipe to make it. Check out my Garlic Cheese Roll by Kraft Don't you just love recipes that can be used multiple ways! Leaving out the broccoli or cauliflower it can be used as a wonderful cream sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 package chopped frozen broccoli
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 package 6 oz garlic cheese
  • 1 teaspoon accent
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon tabasco
  • 1 teaspoon worchester sauce
  • 1 can 4 oz mushrooms/stems and pieces -drained
  • 3/4 cup slivered almonds (1 sm pkg)

How To Make broccoli dip

  • Step 1
Cook broccoli with salt and water - drain and set aside. OPTION - I have defrosted in the microwave and drained and found it to be good too
  • Step 2
Saute onion in butter; add soup, cheese and seasonings. Cook on medium heat until cheese melts
  • Step 3
Add broccoli and cook 1 minute longer, stirring occasionally to blend ingredients
  • Step 4
Add mushrooms and almonds. Serve hot with strong crackers or chips as the dip is substantial
  • Step 5
Also good with FRESH cauliflower broken into small flowerettes.
  • Step 6
Can omit the vegetables and use as cream sauce over vegetables - broccoli and cauliflower included
