Great appetizer....if you are serving more than 4 people, you need to double the batch. It will go quickly.

Ingredients

  • 2 packages unflavored gelatin
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 pound smoked salmon fillet de-boned, skin removed
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon thinly sliced green onion, including green part
  • 1 teaspoon dillweed
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black ground pepper

How To Make salmon mousse (sallye)

  • Step 1
    Sprinkle gelatin over 1/3 cup water and lemon juice in blender. Let stand 5 minutes Add boiling water, cover, blend on medium high for 30 seconds or until smooth
  • Step 2
    Add salmon to gelatin mixture Add heavy cream, mayonnaise, green onions, dillweed, salt, paprika and pepper Blend for 1 minute more until complete smooth
  • Step 3
    Pour into individual small ramekins (or disposable foil cupcake cups) Chill, covered with foil for at least 3 hours in refrigerator
  • Step 4
    Fan out washed and dried romaine lettuce leaves on a serving platter. Gently loosen sides of mousse with small spatula and ease out onto lettuce leaves. Garnish with capers, lemon slices, and marinated vegetables Serve with ranch dressing, pita chips and/or water wafers
