I remember simple things like celery with cream cheese filling, or whole pitted dates stuffed with walnuts before a holiday dinner. I especially loved cheese and crackers. Today I would mix up some Nuts'NBolts, or Herbed Pecans, or Herbs'NCheese; and prepare fresh celery, carrots for dipping known as Crudites. I love the Mexican Seven Layer Platter also, but we didn't have that when I was a child. There are also fancy things like Shrimp Wrapped in Bacon, Sweet and Sour Meatballs and Puff Pastries.

How To Make finger food a/k/a nibbles

  • Step 1
Simply let cream cheese soften and mix with your herbs, and a little minced garlic if desired, for vegetable platter. I use Herbs'NCheese- Joyce's Recipe. It's like that commercial cheese you buy in a small box at the store which is expensive!
  • Step 2
Mom always had celery with cream cheese filling, or dates filled with cream cheese or walnuts!
  • Step 3
Savory nuts are wonderful, and I had a recipe given to me which used Pecans, and it's called Herbed Pecans! I love it, and it makes a very sophisticated appetizer for a grownup-buffet party table.
