Low-carbohydrate appetizer. You can fill mushroom caps with almost anything. This can be made with a variety of stuffings, i.e., shrimp, clam, oyster, cheese, or pesto.

butter or margarine
1 pkg
spicy breakfast sausage
1 pkg
cream cheese, room temperature
1 small
1/2 c
pepperidge farm herb stuffing mix
1 clove
24 medium
mushroom caps
fresh parsley for garnish

How to Make Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms


  • 1Wash mushrooms, remove stems, place caps bottoms-up in rows on cookie sheet.
  • 2Brown sausage until crumbly, drain fat.
  • 3Saute onion until tender.
  • 4Mix onion, cream cheese and cooked sausage in bowl.
  • 5Add breadcrumbs until mixture holds together with stuffing consistency.
  • 6Fill mushroom caps.
  • 7Add a small parsley sprig and bake 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees.
