This recipe is from 1976 when this was all the rage-- there were many recipes for this , but my favorite came from the St. Michael's Lutheran Church Cookbook.Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Ingredients
- 5 pounds medium grade hamburg
- 5 teaspoons rounded of morton tenderquick salt-(no substitute)
- 2 1/2 teaspoons whole mustard seed
- 2 1/2 teaspoons coarse ground black pepper
- 2 1/2 teaspoons garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon hickory smoke salt-do not omit very important
How To Make mock hichory stick

Step 1Mix altogether with hands until well blended. Cover and put in refrigerator overnight. Following day: Shape into 4 rolls, being sure they are solid and tightly packed. Place on cookie sheet. Place on broiler rack and bake in oven at 200^ for 6 hours. Turn rolls one quarter turn - every 2 hours. Cool on rack. Slice and eat. Delicious!
