"cherry picked" saucy meatballs

Meatballs are great for a group. All you have to do is provide meatballs and toothpicks! I was tired of my usual meatball party fare so I tried these. Success! Glazed with a yummy sauce made from cherry pie filling these moist baked bites hide an unexpected crunch!

Ingredients For "cherry picked" saucy meatballs

1/2 cmilk

1 Tbspsoy sauce

6 - 7 slicebread, crusts removed. cut into 1/2 inch pieces

1/4 tsponion powder
-
1 tspgarlic salt
-
1/2 lblean ground beef
-
1/2 lbbulk pork sausage

1 can)8 ounces) water chestnuts, drained & chopped
- CHERRY SAUCE:

1 can(21 ounce) cherry pie filling

1/4 ccider vinegar
-
1/3 capple juice
-
1/4 csteak sauce
-
2 Tbsp(each) soy sauce & brown sugar
How To Make "cherry picked" saucy meatballs

1In a bowl, combine milk, bread cubes, soy sauce, onion powder and garlic salt. Crumble beef and sausage over mixture and mix well. Stir in chopped water chestnuts. Shape into 1 inch balls.

2Line a 15 inch baking pan with aluminum foil; place meatballs in pan. Broil 4-6 inches away from heat for 10 minutes or until meat is no longer pink. Drain well.

3In a large skillet, combine the sauce ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, until sauce has thickened. Add meatballs; cook and stir until heated through. Serve warm.
