Great as an appetizer or a light lunch dish. The tangy grilled beef, is tender and fragrant with a slight smoky char. This versatile dish can be served in many ways; left on skewers as an appetizer served with dip, served hot over rice or vermicelli, served cold in a simple herb salad, in a bun or rice paper with veggies and herbs, or wrapped in lettuce leaves.

Ingredients For bbq - lemongrass beef

  • 1 lb beef, sirlion, thinly sliced
  • dipping sauce of your choice
  • MARINADE
  • 2 - 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp black pepper, freshly ground
  • 3 - 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 3 - 4 lemongrass, bottom third only, finely chopped
  • 1/2 - 1 red chili, small, finely chopped
  • 1 - 1 1/2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 - 2 tsp soya sauce
  • 1 1/2 tbsp vegetable oil + 1/2 tbsp sesame oil
  • GARNISH
  • peanuts, finely chopped, garnish, optional
  • mint, finely sliced, garnish, optional

How To Make bbq - lemongrass beef

    Combine all marinade ingredients together and mix well, add the beef slices, cover and place in fridge for 1 - 2 hours for the flavors to blend.

    Soak wooden skewers or bamboo skewers in cold water for 20 - 30 minutes.

    When you are ready to grill the beef: remove the beef from the marinade and thread the beef slices on the wooden skewers.

    Heat your bbq grill and when it is hot, grill the meat in small batches for one minute per side.

    Garnish with peanuts and mint if using and serve with your favorite Vietnamese dipping sauce and Enjoy!
