this recipe was inspired by an appetizer that we ordered at a bar in Three Rivers, Michigan called Pub 21. I forget the name of it on the menu, but it was so good I had to try to come up with something similar to have at home all of the time. Here is what I came up with, it's not exactly the same but just as good.

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces cream cheese
  • 4 ounces basil pesto
  • 8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese

How To Make italian dip

  • Step 1
    cut cream cheese into squares for ease of melting, put into large microwave safe bowl
  • Step 2
    add pesto
  • Step 3
    add half of the mozzarella cheese
  • Step 4
    microwave 30 seconds and stir
  • Step 5
    continue step 4 until mostly blended
  • Step 6
    top with remaining mozzarella, microwave up to 30 seconds to melt cheese.
  • Step 7
    serve with crackers, pita bread, or plain tortilla chips
