This recipe is a variation of a similar Italian one that I enhanced to my taste over the years from being in North Carolina.

Ingredients

1/2 pkg
barilla fettucine pasta
1/2 c
salted butter
1/4 c
fresh grated asiago cheese
1/4 c
parmesan cheese
3/4 c
cream cheese
1/2 c
half and half
1 tsp
white pepper
2 tsp
salt

How to Make Fettucini a L'Americaine

Step-by-Step

  • 1Cook pasta according to the direction. I always cook mine all dente...
    In the meanwhile in a medium saucepan melt the butter over medium heat.
    Gradually add the cream cheese, half and half and parmesan cheese stirring slowly until blended.
  • 2Continue heating the sauce stirring constantly (I use a whisk)just until it reaches boiling point.
  • 3Remove from heat and add salt and pepper.
  • 4Toss hot pasta into the sauce. Sprinkle parsley on top if desired.
    Time to delight with my American variation.
