Appetizers are my favorite! This is a delicious cheesy and bacony circle of deliciousness wrapped inside a buttery crescent roll. Great for parties or family get togethers, or just for yourself.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 16 ounces brie, cut in half then into wedges
  • 1 large onion
  • 1/2 cup real bacon bits (not those crunchy fake one)
  • 1 cup white balsamic vinaigrette (i use the one from sam's club)
  • 4 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • RECOMMENDED KITCHEN EQUIPMENT
  • 1 electric skillet with temperature control

How To Make baked brie & onion jam crescent wheel

  • Step 1
Peel and slice onion into half circles
  • Step 2
In your electric skillet, set at about 250-300, add the butter and allow to melt. Once it begins melting add all of the onions.
  • Step 3
Allow onions to cook in an electric skillet until caramelized, turn brown but not burnt. This will take time, please be patient. About 20 minutes.
  • Step 4
Once the onions are caramelized add the bacon bits, white balsamic dressing, and brown sugar. Lower the temperature to 200-250 degrees on electric skillet.
  • Step 5
Let cook until the liquid reduces, about 15 minutes or until you can pull a spatula or spoon through the onions leaving a path, and the mixture slowly comes back together. Stir occasionally, being careful the mixture doesn’t stick to the pan. You want the mixture to turn into an onion jam, meaning it shouldn't be too wet and it will be sticky.
  • Step 6
Taste the onion mixture for sweetness and salt. You may want more brown sugar or salt. I did not put salt in the ingredients because the bacon bits can be salty.
  • Step 7
PLEASE NOTE: These steps are for making two smaller wreaths, if you want both cans of crescents in one wreath, you will need a larger bowl in the center and then follow the same steps but put all of the brie and all of the onion jam into the wreath.
  • Step 8
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. On a baking sheet lined with Silpat or parchment place a small bowl in the center of the pan, the bowl should be about 4 inches across.
  • Step 9
Unroll crescents and separate into triangles. Leave triangles flat and arrange around the bowl with each triangle overlapping the next by about a half inch or so. Press together with your finger where each triangle overlaps each other.
  • Step 10
Take half of the onion jam and place around crescent rolls near the bowl, and then place half of the brie wedges evenly around the bowl.
  • Step 11
Remove the bowl carefully from the center. You may need to fix the filling once the bowl is removed.
  • Step 12
To create wreath, you can start anywhere around the circle. Take the point of one triangle and bring over the top of the filling at an angle to the left. Take the triangle to the left of the first one and bring over filling at an angle to the right. Continue this process until all crescent triangles have been crossed over the filling.
  • Step 13
Bake at 375 degrees for about 10-15 minutes or until golden brown and brie is melted.
  • Step 14
Allow to cool slightly and then cut slices and enjoy.
