My kids just love Stromboli and would eat it everyday, if I felt like making the dough...LOL! I decided to take the easy way out and used a store bought crust, which I rarely ever do. It turned out terrific and even tastier than I thought it would be. Was a real hit with my family and I'll be using store bought more often...I was impressed. Serve at your next will surely be a big hit! Enjoy!

Ingredients For ~ ez stromboli ~ my way

  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1/4 lb
    bulk sausage - i used spicy bob evans
  • 1/4 lb
    ground beef
  • 1/2 c
    diced onion - fairly small
  • 1 Tbsp
    minced, garlic
  • 10 slice
    pepperoni - slice in half
  • salt
    & pepper to taste
  • 2 tsp
    dried oregano
  • 1/2 c
    your favorite pizza sauce - plus extra for dipping
  • 1 tube
    refrigerated pizza crust dough
  • 8 slice
    provolone cheese
  • 1 Tbsp
    melted, butter and extra oregano
  • extra
    sauce for dipping, optional

How To Make ~ ez stromboli ~ my way

    In a medium to large skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon olive oil. Heat. Now, add the sausage, ground beef, onion, garlic and pepperoni, oregano, salt and pepper. Breaking up the meat as it cooks. Stirring often.

    Once meat is no longer pink, drain. Let cool for a few minutes. Preheat oven to 400 degree F. Grease a sheet pan.

    Unroll crust and place on prepared sheet pan.I don't spread the dough any larger.

    Lay 4 slices of the provolone cheese on the one long side of crust, leaving a one inch border on every edge. Spoon browned meat and veggies over the cheese. Next spread the sauce over the meat and then top with remaining cheese slices.

    Carefully fold the meatless side of dough over the filling and pinch all edges to seal. Brush the top of dough with melted butter and sprinkle with a few pinches of oregano.

    Place in oven and bake for 20 - 25 minutes or until golden brown.

    Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes. Slice like a loaf of bread and serve with extra warmed pizza sauce. Delicious!
