Ingredients For chicken noodle soup

  • 3 lb
    chicken, pieces
  • 6 c
    chicken broth
  • 2 lg
    celery stalks, sliced
  • 1 c
    carrots, sliced
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 1 tsp
  • 1/2 c
    egg noodles

Test Kitchen Tips
We boiled 3 bone-in skin-on chicken breasts for the soup. The broth will boil away while cooking the chicken and the egg noodles will absorb it too. So, keep an eye on the soup as it cooks. You'll have to add a little more broth or water as it simmers.
  • Cooking chicken in a Dutch oven.
    In a Dutch oven cook chicken until tender.
  • Shredding cooked chicken.
    Remove chicken from Dutch oven. Let cool and remove meat from bones.
  • Adding vegetables, herbs, seasonings, and egg noodles.
    Add vegetables, herbs, seasonings, and noodles to broth and cook until tender.
  • Chicken soup simmering on the stove.
    When vegetables and noodles are tender, add shredded chicken. Simmer for 15-20 minutes.
