I am the originator of this recipe. Ten years ago, I made it for my husband as his groom's cake. I submitted the wedding dinner I catered myself to Penzeys Spices, and it was featured in their catalogue/magazine. What a thrill for me! As a matter of fact, my cake is the most requested cake recipe at Penzeys and I featured in another catalogue a year or so later. This cake (and me) are the only ones to ever appear twice in a Penzeys Catalogue. The cake is THAT good! :)
