well I looked at my china and lots of them have chips and scratches but I think the ones you are looking for do not there is this one big one a two or three smaller ones that seem ok I can take photos of them and send them to you if you like if you were interested
some of my favorite tea cups are from when my father used to work on the southern railway and he was an artist he used these cups for water and to hold some brushes. when I would visit him at work I was play with them for hours. I still have them and oh my the building he worked in was a work of art itself one of the oldest buildings in dc. the elevator had those gates and a man that worked the big lever to bring it up and down the woodwork was insane in this building. I digress the first set I bought was when I was just 16 saved my baby sitting money and had my dad bring me to this flee market to buy it just 4 plates cups and saucers it is a beautiful yellow with white iris I think ill have to look I have search high and low for them with no luck as my careless brother broke two of the plates while I was in the army I could have cried.
That's awesome Jeanne! The Wedgewood California pattern is my favorite. Its so simple and elegant. I've never purchased any Wedgewood, but I'm all about antique and vintage glassware and china. My favorites are the Avon Cape Cod, Currier & Ives Blue and Jewel Tea. My mom collects Marcrest, which is cool if you like that dark rustic look.
I was going to go and look at mine to see if I wanted to buy more but my china cabinet is full and really don't have any dinner parties anymore so money best be saved for other things but thanks I will have a look see anyway. I have some Wedgewood that is all most impossible to find it was given to my husbands great grand mom from the bishop in Washington dc gosh that was back shesh over a 100 yrs ago im guessing I love china and have been colleting it myself for 50 or so yrs just something about it I love
Oh I think on the more rare end, (and more expensive end) you can find them in red, green and black, but the blue is definitely the most common color of this pattern.
LOL, nope, my Grandma lives in NC, and I'm in Michigan so they are definitely all over. They are OOP so you have to find them at flea markets, ebay, that sort of thing. Its the Currier and Ives blue pattern. circa 1955 (or there about) if you're looking for some!
very cool I guess that is where my mom got hers and me from there I have quite a large set but have not seen them anywhere. I had thought maybe it was a regional thing they started out in nyc off the boat then to new jersey
I pick them up whenever I find them at a yard sale, flea market or on Craig's list. My Grandmother had these dishes when I was growing up and I always loved the pictures on them. So I started collecting them a few years ago.
