Lemon custard pie type situation deal. My twisting made homemade whipped cream added a drop of lemon extract and hid vanilla wafers standing up through out the custard. I only used lime for decorations. I made recipe with lemons.
I made this exactly as stated in the recipe. Was afraid I was going to be disappointed after taking a taste right after making the filling. Boy was I wrong. Letting it sit overnight in the fridge, the flavors melded and sharpened. My husband loves it, said it reminded him of Key Lime Pie. Very good, very rich, so cut portions accordingly!
