My cooking heritage is a blend of Western European (with a heavy influence of Italian), Midwestern, and Southern. My mother was able to infuse all into our family's repertoire and, being a native Californian, had the natural inclination toward the fusion of styles and experimentation long before the variety of cooking shows we now have on TV. Her children inherited the love for cooking and trying new foods, spices and combinations. For generations in our family, cooking has been much more than just a means to a meal but a time to bond, share, laugh, experiment, and make memories.
