Heat oil in a frying pan. Add turmeric and ginger and cook for a few seconds or until you can smell the toasted turmeric.
Add onions and stir to coat. Cook for about three minutes.
Add the peas, salt, pepper and lemon juice. Stir to coat. Cover and cook for about eight minutes or until tender. Stir occasionally.
Add rice and stir to mix thoroughly. Heat through.
