This is one of my 'go to' recipes and has been for 40 years! I always hear yummm from the first bite and everyone loves it. I have no idea where it came from but I have had it forever. This is the recipe in the photo and you can tell how used it is. My kids were raised on this recipe and we all sat down at the table as a family and we were all happy we came home to eat some. If desired you can add fire roasted salsa to kick it up.

Ingredients For comfort me! mac and beef

  • 11/2 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1/2 lb
    uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 1
    chopped onion
  • 1
    chopped bell pepper
  • 2 can
    8 oz. tomato sauce or more
  • 1 c
    or more water
  • 2 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • salt and pepper

    Cook beef in large skillet till redness is gone. Remove from the skillet with a slotted spoon and place in a bowl.

    Cook the macaroni, onion and pepper in meat drippings till macaroni is yellow with bits of brown on it.

    Return meat to skillet and add the rest of ingredients. Cover and simmer 25 min. or till macaroni is tender. Watch and add additional water and tomato sauce as needed if it starts to get dry. Stir often.
