Amaretto Cherry Nut Bread

This vanilla bread becomes amaretto flavored with extra maraschino cherries and extra sugar on top with brandy butter glaze.

This recipe will make 5 mini loaves or 2 (8x4-inch loaves)

BREAD :

1 c
granulated sugar
3/4 c
real butter, softened
3 large
eggs
3/4 c
milk
3 c
all purpose flour
3 tsp
baking powder
1/2 tsp
salt
1/3 c
amaretto liqueur or 1/3 c. milk and 1 teas. almond extract
1 c
chopped maraschino cherries, well drained

TOPPING:

4 Tbsp
granulated sugar
1 tsp
melted butter
1/3 c
sliced almonds

GLAZE: OPTIONAL

3 Tbsp
brandy
1 Tbsp
melted butter

Directions Step-By-Step

Preheat oven to 350^.grease bottoms only of 5(5x3-inch) mini loaf pans bake- 35-45 minutes
or 2 (8x4-inch) loaf pans- bake 45-50 minutes.

Bread:
Combine sugar and butter in large bowl; beat at medium speed until smooth and creamy.
Add eggs; continue beating until well mixed.
Reduce speed to low; add milk. Beat until well mixed.
Add dry ingredients and continue beating just until flour is moistened- like for muffins.

Gently stir in liqueur and cherries. Spoon batter evenly into prepared pans of your choice.

Combine all topping ingredients in a small bowl; mix well. Sprinkle over batter.
Bake in preheated oven according to times above or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in pans; remove to wire cooling rack. Brush with butter and brandy heated.
Cool completely.
