CHEESY ONION BREAD (NO KNEAD )

This is a very easy and delicious bread to make. I have been making this bread for years and have no idea where I originally got it.

I have changed the cheese type to mozzarella and added olives and pepperoni and had a pizza bread.

Ingredients

5-1/2 c
all purpose flour
2 Tbsp
sugar
2 pkg
(1/4 oz. each ) quick rise yeast
1-1/2 tsp
salt
1/2 tsp
pepper
2 c
water
2 Tbsp
butter or margerine
3/4 c
plus 2 tablespoons shredded cheddar cheese ; divided
1/4 c
finely chopped onion

Directions Step-By-Step

IN A MIXING BOWL COMBINE 2-1/2 CUPS FLOUR , SUGAR , YEAST SALT AND PEPPER .

IN A SAUCE PAN , HEAT WATER AND BUTTER TO 120°to 130°

ADD TO DRY INDGREDIENTS ; BEAT JUST UNTIL MOISTENED , STIR IN 3/4 CUP OF CHEESE , ONION AND REMAINING FLOUR ; BEAT UNTIL SMOOTH .

TURN ONTO LIGHTLY FLOURED SURFACE ; SHAPE INTO A BALL ; PLACE INTO A GREASED 2 QT. ROUND BAKING DISH.

COVER AND LET RISE IN A WARM PLACE UNTIL DOUBLED ; ABOUT 20 MINUTES .

BAKE @ 350° FOR 40-45 MIN.OR UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN.

SPRINKLE WITH REMAINING CHEESE ; BAKE 5 MIN. LONGER
OR UNTIL CHEESE IS MELTED .

REMOVE FROM DISH TO A WIRE RACK . YIELDS 1 LOAF.
