peanut butter war bread
This recipe my Grandmother use to make , even though I was born in the 60's she made it for us Grandkids cause it was an easy treat. War Breads have been around since wars were fought ( see Old Teatament Ezekiel 4:9). World War I war breads usually were made from wheatless or wheat-reduced recipes, there by saving wheat "fuel" for the U.S. Soldiers. Yeast breads still called for some wheat flour; quick breads could go wheatless. Peanut butter bread was doubly beneficial in that if required no wheat flour or fat.
