1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon turmeric
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper or black pepper to taste
1 bay leaf (optional)

1/2 kg (1 lb.) ground beef
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons paprika
1 teaspoon cumin
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 clove garlic, pressed
3 to 4 tablespoons chopped parsley
