fresh thyme leaves

clove garlic, pressed or minced

1 c.

beef stock

Salt and pepper

For the mashed potato layer:

2 lb.

Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cut into large cubes

1/2 c.

heavy cream

1/4 c.

milk

3 tbsp.

butter, softened or melted

1 c.

grated cheddar cheese
