TOMATOES AND DUMPLINGS - The Southern Lady Cooks

INGREDIENTS
1 14.5 ounce can diced tomatoes or enough fresh tomatoes peeled and mashed to make 2 cups.
2 to 3 slices bacon (cooked)
1 tablespoon bacon drippings
1 1/4 cups water
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon white granulated sugar
1 cup self-rising flour
1 tablespoon shortening (I use Crisco)
Boiling water
