Tillie’s Ginger Cake

"This is spice cake on a whole new level...."

INGREDIENTS
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1 1/4 cup cold butter (2 1/2 sticks), cubed
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons buttermilk
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
2 eggs, room temperature
1/4 to 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar for garnish (optional)
