2 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup boiling water
1/2 cup canola oil
3/4 cup full-fat sour cream
3 egg yolks at room temperature
2 cups all-purpose flour
3 eggs at room temperature
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
6 egg whites
1 1/8 teaspoon fine sea salt
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
2 1/2 cups unsalted butter at room temperature
4 cups raspberries, fresh or frozen
