INGREDIENTS
For Chocolate Cake:

1 1/2 cups (300g) white granulated sugar

1 cup (175 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
melted
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 cup (80ml) water
3 tbsp (9g) instant coffee
1 1/4 cup (300ml) milk
3 cups (375 g) all-purpose flour
1/2 cup (50 g) cocoa powder
2 tbsp (24 g) baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
For Filling:
3/4 cup (170 g) unsalted butter
12 oz (350 ml) evaporated milk
6 egg yolks
1/2 cup (100 g) sugar
1/2 cup (100 g) brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp coconut extract
optional
3 cups (225 g) coconut flakes; divided
1 1/2 cups (190 g) chopped pecans
For Buttercream:
2 cups (453g) unsalted butter
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
1/4 cup (25g) cocoa powder
1/2 cup (90g) dark chocolate chips
3 cups (375g) confectioner's sugar
For Chocolate Ganache:
1/2 cup (90 g) chocolate chips
1/4 cup (60 ml) cream
Optional Syrup:
1 cup (240 ml) water
1/2 cup (100 g) sugar
2 tsp coconut extract
