Stir in pecans for a nutty taste and crunch if you like. It's traditionally frosted with a brown sugar, caramel-like icing, but I add a little bourbon to mine because why not, right?..."

4 eggs
2 1/2 cups flour

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans (optional)
1/2 cup butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup milk
3 cups confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons bourbon
