INGREDIENTS
INGREDIENTS
2 Tbsp. unsalted butter, divided
1/2 small onion, finely chopped
~1 1/2 lbs. Swiss chard, leaves and stems separated and both cut into 1-inch pieces (I used 20 oz. rainbow chard)
pinch freshly grated nutmeg
1 cup whole milk (or heavy cream)
1 clove garlic, minced
1 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 lb. sweet potatoes or yams, peeled and cut into 1/8-inch thick rounds
1 1/2 tsp. minced fresh Italian parsley
1 1/2 tsp. minced fresh thyme
salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
~ 3/4 cup Gruyere (I used a blend of white cheddar and Gruyere)
