¾ pound lean ground beef (I used 85/15)
¾ pound ground pork
1 small onion (grated)
2 garlic cloves (minced)
½ cup panko breadcrumbs
1 egg (large)
¼ cup whole milk
1 teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
¼ teaspoon allspice
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil (or other cooking oil such as vegetable oil)
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
¼ cup all purpose flour
1 ½ cups beef broth (or beef stock, low sodium)
¾ cup heavy cream
1 ½ teasoons soy sauce (low sodium)
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
salt and pepper (to taste)
chopped fresh parsley (optional)
