1 pint strawberries, halved or quartered depending on size
1/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch (see note)

1/4 cup sliced almonds
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
2 egg whites
2 tablespoons melted butter
