For the Filling and Topping:

1 (8 ounce) package of cream cheese, softened at room temperature
•
2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, softened at room temperature
•
2 cups of powdered sugar
•
1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
•
1 large (16 ounce) Cool Whip, or equivalent homemade whipped cream, divided
•
1/2 cup of chopped pecans
