6 scallions, white and tender green parts only, cut into 1-inch lengths
1 bunch asparagus, cut into 1 1/2-inch lengths
1 pound mafaldine or other curly, wide noodles
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Large pinch of crushed red pepper
1/4 cup chopped flat leaf parsley
About 1/2 cup shaved ricotta salata cheese, for garnish
