1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon kosher or sea salt
1 pinch freshly ground black pepper
2 eggs, lightly beaten
2 tablespoons water
1 cup cornmeal
3 medium-size green tomatoes cored and cut into 1/2-inch slices
2 to 3 tablespoons canola oil
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Garnish (optional): 1/4 cup sour cream and 2 tablespoons minced red onion
