I found this recipe in my grandma's recipe collection. This recipe is from a magazine clipping from the 1940s. This would be a good recipe to convert to a slow-cooker.

Ingredients
- 2 pounds soup bone
- 2 tablespoons oil
- - salt and pepper to taste
- 2 quarts cold water
- 1 cup canned tomatoes
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1/2 cup diced carrots
- 1/2 cup diced celery
- 1/2 cup diced potatoes
- 1/2 cup peas, frozen
How To Make vegetable soup

Step 1Remove a portion of the meat from the soup bone and dice. Brown diced meat in oil.

Step 2Place browned meat, soup bone, and seasonings in large soup pot; cover with cold water.

Step 3Cover and heat to boiling. Then simmer for 2 1/2 hours-until meat is tender.

Step 4Skim off fat. Add vegetables and cook until vegetables are tender.
