My mom used to make this soup all the time until she had her stroke, and I'm glad I watched her because now she asks me to make it for her:) (Oh, and this also can be made in the crock pot)

Ingredients
- 5 pounds yukon gold potatoes
- 4 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon pepper
- 3 medium ham steaks, cubed
- 1 lg. can chicken broth
- 4 cups milk
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 2 or 3 tablespoons dried parsley flakes
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 4 tablespoons olive oil (give or take a little)
- 2 tablespoons salted butter
- 1 tablespoon celery salt
- 4-6 cups water
How To Make the best ham and potato soup

Step 1On med-high in a large pot heat olive oil, butter and ALL seasonings, until butter is bubbly. Then add onion and saute until translucient.

Step 2Add flour and mix to make a kind of pastey substance. Now slowly add milk while whisking it all together, until there is no lumps.

Step 3Add in water,broth, potatoes and ham. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to med, stirring it occasionally. When potatoes are tender then it's time to serve:)

Step 4SOME SERVING SUGGESTIONS: Add a tablespoon of sour cream on top, with some shredded cheese and chives!! YUMMY!! I hope you all enjoy!
