I tried a lot of pea soup recipes and found them good but when I bought a smoked pork hock I made this recipe..a Vegan friend of mine tasted it and decided to replace the pork hock with smoked turkey and it turned out to her liking.

Ingredients
- 2 cups split green pea soup
- 2 cups water
- 8 cups chicken broth, low salt
- 3 medium carrots, cubed
- 1 cup corn kernels, frozen
- 2 large onions..yellow or vidalia
- 2 cups frozen peas
- 2 cups farfalle or small pasta
- 2 - flour
- 2 tablespoons butter or canola oil
How To Make split pea soup

Step 1Rinse split peas..In large pot add the water and chicken stock,,add split peas and pork hock and simmer for 30 to 40 minutes.

Step 2Chop the carrots and add to pot ..remove hock when cool cut off the fat and dice the meat from the bone and return the meat to the pot.

Step 3Add the pasta to the pot and cook for 15 minutes..saute the onions until tender..sprinkle them with the flour and stir to combine take out a cup of stock and mix it in with the onions and add this to the pot along with the frozen peas and simmer for another 10 to 15 minutes.

Step 4When soup has cooled pour into 2 serving size containers and freeze. when soup has frozen I put the soup into baggies to make room for more goodies.
