I love soups and stews and just use whatever I have in the fridge or freezer. There are no exact amounts. If you like lots of a certain ingredient, the use more - by all means. I make an large pot and freeze in small quantities in zip lock bags for a fast meal with a salad and bread.

carrots, whole
onions, roughly chopped
celery, whole
ham bone
1 pkg
split green peas (large pkg)
1 pkg
frozen corn
1 pkg
simply potatoes mashed potatoes

How to Make Pea Soup


  • 1Put carrots, onions, celery, ham bone and peas in a large pot and cover with water.
  • 2Cook at a low boil for approx 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  • 3Take celery out. Take ham bone out and take meat off. Mash the carrots roughly in the pot. Put the meat back in.
  • 4Put in the corn and mashed potatoes and cook for about 30 min. Use the masher again to make sure the potatoes incorporate.
