I love soups and stews and just use whatever I have in the fridge or freezer. There are no exact amounts. If you like lots of a certain ingredient, the use more - by all means. I make an large pot and freeze in small quantities in zip lock bags for a fast meal with a salad and bread.

  • ·
    carrots, whole
  • ·
    onions, roughly chopped
  • ·
    celery, whole
  • ·
    ham bone
  • 1 pkg
    split green peas (large pkg)
  • 1 pkg
    frozen corn
  • 1 pkg
    simply potatoes mashed potatoes

How to Make Pea Soup


  1. Put carrots, onions, celery, ham bone and peas in a large pot and cover with water.
  2. Cook at a low boil for approx 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  3. Take celery out. Take ham bone out and take meat off. Mash the carrots roughly in the pot. Put the meat back in.
  4. Put in the corn and mashed potatoes and cook for about 30 min. Use the masher again to make sure the potatoes incorporate.
