My mom who was born and raised in Germany has been making this soup for as long as i can remember. This is one of my favorite soup, especially when it gets co oler out.

Ingredients

  • 5 lbs - potatoes, medium
  • 6 medium carrots, chopped
  • 4 medium turnips chopped
  • 4 medium parsnips
  • 4 medium celery chopped small
  • 1 bunch scallions chopped
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 4 small vegetable boullion cubes
  • 4 small chicken boullion cubes
  • 1 package bacon cut into thin pieces
  • 1 pinch salt (if needed)

How To Make mom's german potato soup

  • Step 1
    Place all chopped vegetables into large pot, add enough water to cover the vegetables. Bring to a boil, then add the bouillion cubes. lower the flame and cook over low heat for about 2-3 hours, then add the Bacon.....cook an additional hour.....also add more seasoning if needed.
