This recipe came from my mother-in-law during the 1960s.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/2 pound fresh sliced mushrooms
  • 4 cups beef broth, canned
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • pinch black pepper

How To Make memaw's cream of mushroom soup

  • Step 1
    Cook onion in butter until brown. Add mushrooms. Stir until done. Add flour and coat mushrooms. Cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add beef broth. Cook 10 min. DO NOT BOIL. Add cream and spices. Stir and serve.
