This is a Polish recipe from Mark's family, original title: Kapusniak ze swiezeh kapusty. To me, it is a warm, wonderful soup that I am glad he shared with me!

Ingredients
- 1 pound cabbage, finely sliced
- 3 cups beef broth
- 1 large white onion, sliced
- 3 cups cold water
- 2 medium tomatoes, cubed
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- - salt and pepper
How To Make mark's cabbage soup

Step 1Place the cabbage and the onions in a kettle with cold water. Bring to a boil and cook a few minutes uncovered. Reduce heat and cover. Simmer for 10 mnutes. Add the tomatoes, simmer another 10 minutes. Bring the broth to a boil. Mix the butter with the flour. Add 4 tablespoons hot broth, one by one, mixing. Add to the broth, bring to a boil. Add the broth to the cabbage. Season with sugar, salt and pepper.

Step 2Notes: While beef broth works well, if you can find oxtail broth it's even better.
